The album, entitled "Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace," is their sixth album and an encore to their 10-year anniversary album "In Your Honor".
The music has a good sound but lacks uniqueness.
The band is comprised of Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel and Chris Shiflett.
Many of the songs resemble one another as well as former Foo Fighters albums, but do not give up on the album during the first few songs.
The album does improve with each song. Although the music is similar to sounds from the Foo Fighters past, it is energetic and worth listening to.
The album's art is different and interesting but has a mildly creepy vibe to it.
The pictures in the lyric booklet are half images that connect in the middle. Some are cool and others are just weird.
The written lyrics are printed to look like a rough draft.
This has been done before, but some of the lines of the songs are not written in the booklet making it almost pointless and hard to follow along. Luckily, it is easy to hear the Foo Fighters words while just listening. If you are the kind of person that likes to read the lyrics while listening to the songs, it would be easier to look the lyrics up online.
The slower songs have more of a rhythmic beat and are more pleasant. Songs such as "Home" and "Stranger Things Have Happened" are sweet and melodic.
The faster songs on the album have some nice guitar rifts, and the musician's individual talents show.
Kaki King was featured in the instrumental "Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners" playing the guitar.
The song is very cool and different. The instrumental was an unexpected but nice change of pace from the rest of the album.
The album also featured Drew Hester, Rami Jaffee, Pat Smear and Brantley Kearns Jr.
It would be just as easy to download the music and find the lyrics online, but if you are a huge Foo Fighter fan ,this album would be a decent addition to your collection.
If for no other song the album is worth listening to for the song "Statues," and I am sure anyone could find at least one song they enjoyed.
I have heard better albums, but this is not the worst.
Foo Fighters was formed in 1995 by Grohl. The band reveived two Grammy awards for "There is Nothing Left to Lose" and "One by One.
