The question 'What do we do?' haunts its inhabitants in the never-ending search for fun.
On an ordinary weekend, opportunities for fun and fellowship may seem lacking. What exactly does the city offer on a Friday night, or even an uneventful weekday to a college student in need of diversion? Here are ten activities to try if ideas seem scarce.
1) Wal-Mart
This location of the corporate giant provides not only anything and everything one might need to purchase but provides hours of entertainment. Short of being kicked out by irked associates, there are many entertaining activities to try.
A Supercenter-wide game of good old-fashioned hide and seek is always a good bet. An ordinary shopping cart can become a mean racing machine with cart races up and down the aisles or through the parking lot.
2) The Park
Bolivar's only park is a private facility, open only during the day to the public. However, if a Saturday afternoon of homework and lounging around the dorm becomes too taxing, it too can provide a way to get out.
3) Cooking
For another inexpensive alternative option of weekend fine dining, try your hand at making your friends a fabulous meal in a dorm kitchen.
From macaroni and cheese to lasagna, there are many options both simple and gourmet.
This can be a fun group activity and costs only a few dollars per person.
4) Creek Jumping
Get acquainted with nature at Bolivar's many babbling brooks, creeks, and streams. Take a walk on a nice afternoon. Play at the underwater bridge. Catch frogs or other obliging wildlife.
5) Watch TV in the Square
McRental's, a local store located on the Bolivar square is equipped with a television in its window, which plays the Weather Channel 24-7.
If you would like to check the week's weather on breezy fall night, or watch weather documentaries from all over the world in silence, this is the place to be.
6) Eat Pie at Norma's
Norma's Pie and Coffee Shop features all flavors of this delicious dessert from traditional apple and pecan to the more adventurous Chocolate Galaxy. At a reasonable price, Norma's is a great place to meet for fun and fellowship.
