My friend Chris suggested one could buy it and then pass it around like NHL players and teams do with the Stanley Cup. This seemed like a reasonable idea to me. It would be kind of cool to be in a league where something prized was passed along each year to the league champion. Then again, who wants to take an idea from something as broken as the NHL?
At least the whole fantasy league concept could be argued. The idea of being a champion of something that took five to six months to accomplish, it could be argued, ought to be rewarded.
What I don't understand at all is the Madden rings. It is a video game! Who is it that gets away with owning a ring that resembles something they won off a video game? Additionally, who has the loose $300 to purchase one? How many people could be fed in Africa if someone decided to bite the bullet and not buy a Madden ring? It is no wonder people in other countries look at us with a certain level of disgust. Who could blame them?
But, as with everything, there is a good thing that has come out this: I now know what it is I want for Christmas.
