When fantasy goes wild

The world is on the verge of coming to an end.
Jostens, the good people who make class rings, yearbooks and championship rings, including the Super Bowl ring, have expanded their ring line to include fantasy sports championship rings and replicas of the rings one can earn on the popular video game Madden 2008.
If you need evidence of this extraordinary fact, visit www.jostens.com/sports/fan_sports/index.
I have come to the conclusion that maybe fantasy sports, or at least the intensity of them, is getting a little out of hand. These rings, which sell anywhere between $99 and $310, are a symbol of the explosion that is fantasy sports. One knows if they have invested too much time into fantasy sports when the idea of buying a ring to celebrate your winning of a fantasy league seems reasonable.
In defense of some of these people, I would assume it would be cool to own a championship ring from a company that makes the same rings Michael Jordan and Peyton Manning wear. Still, what does one do with it? I mean, maybe one day a fan with a fantasy football ring runs into Manning and asks to compare rings. It would be a great talking point for fans and players. And, knowing society, it would not surprise me if a few of these rings are comparable to a Super Bowl ring.
I would assume wearing a ring like that has to guarantee someone that they are going to be single for life. I feel especially sorry for the already married women who have husbands who spend money on things like this. What exactly does a wife (and maybe a husband in some cases) do when their spouse comes home and says, "Hey, look at this $300 ring I just bought myself for winning my fantasy league!"?
Then again, for single guys, the could be used as a symbol to ladies that one has too much money and has to spend it on such unnecessary things like the ring. And maybe married men will know their spouse well enough to press the right buttons to justify such an insane purchase. However, knowing myself, I doubt I would be able to pull off either scenario.
