Falling Up released their third CD "Captiva" on Oct. 2.
Jessy C. Ribordy, Josh Shroy and Jeremy Miller are the members of this rock alternative band.
They worked with Aaron Sprinkle to produce the CD, who has also worked with Hawk Nelson, The Almost, and Anberlin.
"Hearing bad music, hearing good music and hearing music that is just okay," said the band on their Myspace page.
This is a major influence on their music.
The electric and bass guitar mix is phenomenal when complemented with drums.
"Goodnight Gravity" is an example of this guitar fusion. The lyrics include, "Static night, I'll be leaving soon. It won't be long, no it won't be long. Cause I'm wearing out under nowhere moon. It won't be long, no it won't be long. Until I see the sun splash up the night sky and call it out to turn the planet new."
This song impels a need to keep going and get rid of what is weighing a person down.
"Hotel Aquarium" stirs up and awakens the listener. The lyrics consist of, "Now I know that I'm alive. All the loneliness is filled by you inside. And as I finally breathe the air, you open up my eyes and now I'm alive."
Many of their new songs focus on what is within people.
The lyrics of "A Guide to Marine Life" include "Float by open windows, what a shipwreck, what a shipwreck. Glass flies all around me, now my veins let, now my veins let. See the lines, see the lines. I start feeling when I'm lost, when I'm lost. There's no meaning, call it this, call it this. Spinning sideways and never stops."
These lyrics are full of meaning that can be interpreted many ways.
Falling Up has one of their songs debuting on 2008 X the Album, which also released on Oct. 2.
"Captiva" was produced by BEC Records.
