Jack Fellows will receive the Distinguished Alumni award during Honors Chapel Friday, Oct. 5. Fellows graduated from SWBC in 1940 with an Associate of Arts degree in religion.

The Edwin Lightfoot Distinguished Alumni Award is presented to an alumnus or alumna who acquires leadership in Southwest Baptist University, illustrates a dedication to the education and welfare of youth and demonstrates support for SBU.
The award will be presented to Jack Fellows on Friday, Oct. 5 during Chapel.
Fellows graduated from SWBC in 1940 with an Associate of Arts degree in religion. He also received a Ed.D. degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1948.
"I felt a need to again commit my life to Christian service," said Fellows in a statement to the SBU Alumni Association. "I had the conviction that I would need to prepare for this service in a Christian atmosphere. I was not sure where I would go to college, but it looked like it would be SWBC."
He married Edythe (Hammack0) Fellows (SWBC'41) and is a father of five children.
Fellows retired in 1983 and spends his time dedicated to Christian and community volunteer service. In 1998, he founded the Life Center International-America, Inc. to raise money for mission organizations and individuals.
"To be selected to receive the Edwin Lightfoot Distinguished Alumni award is one of the best days of my life," said Fellows.
