Emery released their third album "I'm Only a Man" on Oct. 2.
This rock/alternative band includes members Toby Morell, Devin Shelton, Matt Carter, Josh Head and Dave Powell.
Ryan Boesch helped with the making of the new CD. He has also worked with The Cure, Foo Fighters and From First to Last.
Emery, who has two main vocalists, is able to keep concerts fresh and new by alternating vocalists.
The band mixes acoustic and rock together setting a despondent feel to the music.
"Some of the songs on this album might encourage our fans to dance along and embrace the hooks," says Toby Morell. "But if you check out our lyrics, some of them are just heart crushing. We knew we were doing something different, but we didn't go too far. We didn't leave ourselves."
Emery wrote "The Party Song" with some friends and family in mind, but mainly thought of Queen or Weezer.
The lyrics include "February is still as scary, the month your father died, a little girl in a shrieking world, looking for her place to run and hide."
The song revolves around a girl's father dying which led her to make mistakes that hurt her life instead of fixing it. It states that those factors were empty and that she was just running away instead of addressing her pain.
Their song "From Crib to Coffin" consists of the lyrics "My blood is tainted with bitterness. I want it out; I want it out of me. Oh, the taste of my inheritance. How I have fallen, the hills will cover me. You too will become weak."
This song sets the stage with a person with a guilty conscience regretting over the incidents they have done.
Many of the songs expound about feelings of guilt.
The person focused on in the song realizes what they have done is wrong, but there is no resolution of fixing those struggles.
This can leave listeners only able to express and feel the same pain but does not give any direction to help solve problems.
Although the songs sound amazing with creative lyrics, it does not bring any light of hope.
Their past two CDs have been successful, selling 250,000 copies.
Emery will be on tour with Chiodos, Scary Kids Scaring Kids and The Devil Wears Prada starting Oct. 19.
"I'm Only a Man" was produced by Tooth and Nail.
