This year the pageant was emceed by sophomore Andy Hanson and 2006 Maupin Beauty Pageant queen senior Rich Schoenrock.
Seven Maupin men vied for the title this year, including "bearded lady" freshman Josh Barnum; "Star Wars' Princess Leia" freshman Eric Fleming; "Miss South Carolina" freshman Camden Pulliam; "Nina the Ninja" sophomore Brian Lindholm; "Sean Connery's mother" sophomore Kyle Hamlin; "The Lunch Lady" junior Tommy Miller and "Plus sized ballerina" freshman Tanner Christenson.
To narrow down the competition, a game of musical chairs was played.
The contestants were asked a series of questions about Maupin Hall and their favorite dorms, and then the talent show began.
During the talent portion of the evening, Miller danced to "Lunch Lady Land" (a familiar Saturday Night Live skit by Adam Sandler and the late Chris Farley), and Christenson danced around the stage.
Following a final question and answer time, the judges made their final decisions.
After a rousing evening of dancing, question and answer time and a musical chair extravaganza, Miller and Christenson were named the finalists.
During a brief interlude, the contestants and audience danced to the "Cha Cha Slide."
"The Lunch Lady" (Miller) was named the 2007 Maupin Beauty Pageant Queen. He joins a long line of queens including 2006 queen Wilma Wonka (Schoenrock) and 2005 pageant winner and former SBU student "Nurse Kodina" Kody Krems.
Residents of Maupin Hall use this event each year to raise money to purchase things for their dorm.
