Dorms think big for Homecoming parade

Landen Hall wins float competition, Maupin Hall constructs larger than life dragon

Southwest Baptist University students, faculty and staff wrapped up Homecoming week with the annual bed races, homecoming parade and the crowning of the 2007 Homecoming queen. On Friday, Oct. 5, the annual bed races were held in front of Randolph Chapel. The men of Maupin Hall came out on top, winning the men's division and Leslie Hall took the win in the women's division.

Pay advice to appear online

Beginning Friday, Nov. 2, all Southwest Baptist University student employees will be able to access their pay advice through Web Advisor. According to Allison Blamey, payroll supervisor/staff accountant, pay advices will no longer be available for pick up at the Information Desk inside Sells Administrative Building.

Intramural captains meeting next week

The Department of Intramural Sports at Southwest Baptist University announced that the captains' meetings for Indoor Volleyball and Ultimate Frisbee will be on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 9:00 and 9:30 p.m. respectively. The meetings will take place in Davis Theatre in Goodson Student Union.

The Spotlight to showcase student talent next week

The Music Industry II class will be hosting The Spotlight at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23. The exhibit will be kicked off with a variety show in Pike Auditorium, featuring musicians, actors, poets and other artists from our SBU campus. All performers participating in the variety show will be judged by the audience for various prizes.

Off campus applications due Nov. 1

Applications for off-campus and January Term housing are now available through the Southwest Baptist University Student Life Office. According to Housing Coordinator Chris Keller, students planning to file for off-campus housing for the 2008 Jan Term and Spring Semesters must do so by 5 p.

Designed to help facilitate a smooth transition into life as members of the SBU community, Welcome Week exists to challenge new students spiritually and academically.

Frost, Cox to be featured in University Art Gallery

Southwest Baptist University's Driskill Art Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of recent works by Emily Frost and Minda Cox, both residents of southwest Missouri. The exhibit runs Monday through Friday, October 19 - November 15, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

University recognizes five alumni at Honors Chapel

Alumni joined students during the annual Homecoming Honors Chapel on Friday, October 5. Kurt Caddy, director of University Ministries, began the ceremonial service with prayer before Southwest Baptist University's Symphonic Winds welcomed in the faculty and honored guests.
