Defensive woes continue for SBU

After the special teams touchdown, Truman ended up picking up two "dead ball" personal fouls forcing them to kick off from the seven-yard line. The ball was kicked out of bounds, and the SBU offense began their drive inside Bulldog territory at the 42-yard line. Five plays later, freshman quarterback Steve Gachette snuck in from one yard out for the touchdown. After a failed point-after attempt, the Bearcats trailed 21-13 with nearly five minutes left in the first half.
Following the punt, the SBU offense began its drive at the Truman 41-yard line. Senior receiver Nick Smart hauled in three passes on the drive, and Gachette ran in for the score from seven yards out with 1:55 left in the half. The two-point conversion attempt failed, and SBU trailed 21-19, the closest the score would be for the remainder of the game.
Just before the first half came to a conclusion, Truman scored a touchdown with 16 seconds left on the game clock, putting them up 28-19 at the half after the point-after.
Coming out of halftime, Truman scored on its first possession, putting them up 35-19.
SBU's next two offensive drives would end in turnovers, the first drive ending in an interception and the second ending after turning the ball over on downs.
Truman would then turn that second turnover into a touchdown, making the score 42-19, which would be the score heading into the fourth quarter of play.
As the fourth quarter began, SBU had the ball and drove down to the four-yard line, where Gachette would once again take it in himself for the touchdown. Another bad snap forced a failed point-after attempt, making the score 42-25.
Truman would then take another turnover and turn it into points with a little help from the officials on a questionable pass interference call on fourth down, which kept the drive alive. This furthered the Truman lead to 49-25.
Upon starting its next possession at its own 20, the Bearcat offense drove the ball down the field, and Finnell once again found the end zone on a 16-yard touchdown run.
