Prospective students had the opportunity to interact with current students and see for themselves what it is like to be in college and experience the dorm life.
According to Amanda Pierce, associate director of Admissions, the purpose of Fall Visitation is to give incoming freshmen and their families a snapshot of what SBU is about.
Prospects also had the opportunity to meet other prospective students who may be coming to SBU soon.
Prospective students followed a tight schedule, filled with activities to help them become familiar with the campus.
This year, the prospective students' day began in Mabee Chapel with a Welcome Session in Pike Auditorium.
There was a brunch with the faculty, tours of the campus and a football game at 2 p.m. that prospective students could attend.
Prospective students had the chance to talk to panels of current students, parents and transfer students.
They also had the opportunity to talk with financial aid about admission and transfer admission.
There was also a chance for prospective athletes to meet athletic coaches at Meet the Coaches and attend a Social and Service Opportunities fair.
The Social and Service Opportunities fair was a chance to highlight the dorms as well as the many clubs and organizations that students can participate in if they decide to attend SBU.
About 260 students and parents were signed up to attend the October visitation day.
The next visitation day occurs on Nov. 10.
Currently, there are about 250 students and parents signed up to attend that event.
