Game room tournament to be held this weekend

Ping pong, pool, foosball and Madden EA Sports video football will be featured competitions in Landen Hall's fifth annual Game Room Tournament this weekend.
Tournament play will begin at 12 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 in the Game Room inside Goodson Student Union.
According to Tournament Director Chris Keller, all Southwest Baptist students, faculty and staff are invited to compete in at least one of the four events.
"We've had a great response each year we've had this tournament," said Keller. "We always have a good number of male students that come out for this, and we would like to see more of our female students, and faculty and staff members, come out and play as well."
Keller says the tournament could feature anywhere from one to four divisions for the ping pong and pool competitions, depending on the number of people that come to play.
"We will for sure have singles divisions for the ping pong and pool competitions, and we could have separate men's and women's doubles divisions too depending on how many people we competing," said Keller. "We will use either a double-elimination or round-robin format depending on the number of people playing in each division.
The entry fee for each tournament event will be $2 per person with all proceeds to be donated to the Polk County Humane Society.
Award certificates will be given to the first, second and third place winners of each event and prizes will be given to all first and second place winners.
"It's all for a great cause and you get to have fun at the same time," said Keller. "The Humane Society needs every dollar they can get to help with the operating expenses of their animal shelter, and they also need donations of food, blankets and other items too."
