Advent releases their CD "Remove the Earth" Feb. 15.
Joe Musten leads the band as lead singer, Matt Harrison and Mike Rick on guitar, Johnny Smrdel on bass and Chris Ankelein on drums bring a hardcore/thrash genre to their new album.
Advent merged aggression with hardcore resonance into the eleven tracks on their new CD.
Two of those tracks are available on Myspace for everyone to hear.
Reading the lyrics always helps with this kind of genre to comprehend the message they are trying to give.
One line from "The Reflection" tells it all. The tense hardcore screaming of "Destroy the Mask" brings a conviction to the old self and a revelation to the new self.
"Reflection' is another one of my favorites," said Musten. "It's about seeing ourselves for who we really are, viewing the things we're uncomfortable with and tired of trying to justify."
"The Cost" is a song that focuses on fear and how it can affect us. The lyrics comprise of "Finding no rest, more sleepless nights. Holding tight to comforts of your wasted life. Shed your fear. What is the cost of living? Shed your fear. Will you pay the price?"
A series of questions within the lyrics asks Christians if they are going to put down what is holding them back and live their life for Christ.
The song ends with, "No more fear. No more emptiness left in here. No more fear. I shed the fear of a promised death."
"Remove the Earth" brings insights that convict and stir faith.
Advent has been signed with Solid State Records since 2006.
The producers of the new album are Mitch Marlow and Al Jacobs.
Advent has shared the stage with UnderOath, Every Time I Die, Maylene, the Sons of Disaster and many others.
Three members of Advent were part of the band Beloved from North Carolina that broke up in the winter of 2005.
Musten, Harrison and Smrdel started Advent to add an intense hardcore touch to their music.
Some of their influences included Buried Alive, Strongarm and Turmoil.
