Student Government is kicking off Spring 2008 semester by renovating class Chapel.
This Chapel will be different than before. All classes will be held together.
Instead of classes meeting in different designated areas, Chapel will be held in Pike Auditorium on Feb. 6 and led by Student Government Association Executive Cabinet.
Prior to class Chapel, preliminary nominations for 2008 Courtwarming Princes and King will be held online through Blackboard.
Specific dates and times for the preliminary voting will be announced in an email from SGA.
Be checking your SBU email for voting dates. Voting will take place over the weekend, allowing students more time to get their nominations in.
The results of the voting will be publicized, and the finalists for Courtwarming 2008 King and Princes will be announced at the Feb. 6 Chapel.
There will also be fun interactive activities and an open microphone session to give students a chance to ask questions and voice concerns.
To reward students for their attendance to class Chapel SGA has purchased a gift for all students who attend.
The gift will be handed out to students during class Chapel.
SGA is looking forward to another great semester.
Fall 2007 was a semester of positive changes based on student concerns, and this semester will be no different.
We are blessed at SBU to have a strong administration, faculty and staff that communicates with SGA and works for the well being of the students.
SGA is looking forward to more communication this semester as well.
Another item SGA is working on is the implementation of an interactive bulletin board on Burnidge Memorial Forum. This bulletin board will be weather-proof to keep posters and announcements from getting wet.
One side will be full of SGA updates and announcements. The other side will be a cork board available for students to post.
SGA is drafting the proposal this week, and soon we will know if it is going to become a reality and if so where the exact placement will be on Burnidge Memorial Forum.
These are just a few of items on the agenda for SGA in the next week.
As usual, all students are invited and welcome to come to SGA meetings on Mondays in Davis Theater in Goodson Student Union.
You do not have to be a member to attend.
Also feel free to voice your concerns and opinions to SGA via email at sga@sbuniv.edu.
We look forward to hearing from you, the students, and we look forward to working with you to make our university the best it can be.
