Harris named player of the week:
leads Bearcats to two victories in the week

Southwest Baptist junior D'Ante Harris has been selected as the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Harris earned the award previously on Jan. 7 when he averaged 21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and three steals as he helped the Bearcats to a quick start in the conference.
To date, Harris is the only SBU athlete to be named MIAA player of the week twice this winter sports season. Senior Jim Grabowski, junior Michael Pierce and sophomore Shawn Etzenhouser have also received MIAA athlete of the week honors this season.
Last week, Harris led the #21 Bearcats to consecutive wins over MIAA opponents Missouri Western State and Northwest Missouri State, keeping SBU at the top of the MIAA standings.
Harris, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound junior from Bossier City, La., averaged 20 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.5 steals as the Bearcats pick up another two wins in the MIAA.
Against Northwest Missouri State, in addition to his 23 points, Harris had five steals, six assists and was seven of seven from the free-throw line. Against Western, he grabbed eight rebounds and had five assists.
Through Jan. 27, Harris stood at second in the nation in three-point percentage.
For the season, Harris is averaging 16.5 points, 5.7 rebounds.
Harris, who hit on eight of his 13 three-point attempts for 61.5% for the week from long range, is a graduate of Airline High School and transferred to SBU from Vincennes (Ind.) University.
