Out of the 42 buildings on campus, two were destroyed and more than half received minor or major damage.
Though students are scheduled to return to class on Wednesday, Feb. 20, they are still in need of everyday items.
As a sister Baptist university, Southwest Baptist University and other schools around the country have asked how they can help the students at Union get back on their feet.
In an email released by Dr. C. Pat Taylor, SBU president on Wednesday, Feb. 13, SBU will collect monetary donations for Union students until Tuesday, Feb. 19.
Students, faculty and staff wishing to make a donation can leave their gifts in the University Missions and Ministries Office in Goodson Student Union or the President's office in Sells Administration Center.
Checks may be made out to SBU - Union University Disaster Relief. These gifts will go toward the purchase of gift cards for students to Wal-Mart, Target, Lowe's and Home Depot.
At the time of the tornado, there were over 1,000 students on campus.
According to the email, preliminary estimates indicate the university sustained over $40,000,000 in damage.
