Dawn Richardson, the fiery lead singer of Fireflight, is breaking ground with the band's new album "Unbreakable" released March 4.
This Christian Rock band from Florida includes Justin Cox (Guitar), Glenn Drennen (Guitar), Wendy Drennen (Bass) and Phee Shorb (Drums).
After only being on the charts for seven weeks, their song "Unbreakable" took number one for the third week in a row. From the popularity of this song, NBC network chose "Unbreakable" to be the promotional soundtrack for the TV show "Bionic Woman." This gives rise to the band's third career number one song.
"Unbreakable" has an awesome rush of rock resonance, but the lyrics speak so much more. There are many messages that can come out of this set of lyrics, but it all comes together to encourage listeners.
The chorus of "Unbreakable" says, "God I want to dream again. Take me where I've never been. I want to go there, this time I'm not scared. Now I am unbreakable, it's unmistakable. No one can touch me, nothing can stop me."
"These songs intimately share raw emotion because the band truly experienced the moments we wrote about on Unbreakable," said Richardson. "Lyrically, we've broken things down to the base feelings and described situations that everyone in the band has faced. If you write from what is real, songs can be catchy without being superficial."
The song "Forever" relates to everyone in their relationship with Jesus. The core of the lyrics include, "When I'm starting to drown, You jump in to save me. When my world's upside down, Your hands, they shake me and wake me."
The lyrics show that God is there all along, but the lies and burdens of the world blind us from seeing that.
Not only does Fireflight believe their lyrics to be true, they also live them.
They actively support To Write Love on Her Arms, which is a group that provides awareness for self-mutilation, suicide and addiction.
They are also involved in The Legacy of Hope International. They have adopted a vision for helping the Cambodian people due to having a Cambodian friend.
