After traveling across most of the United States and to several countries, the Newsboys' "Go Tour" made its way to Springfield on Friday, Feb. 29 in the Shrine Mosque.
The purpose of the "Go Tour" is not only to provide Newsboys fans with good Christian pop but also to fulfill the Biblical commission to take the Gospel to every tribe, every tongue and every nation.
After performing and ministering in several countries including Israel and Morocco, the Newsboys returned to the United States.
The current Newsboys are lead singer Peter Furler, drummer Duncan Phillips, keyboardist Jeff Frankenstein and guitarist Paul Colman.
"Go" is the first pop album the Newsboys have released in four years. It is their fourteenth album and is just as good as the previous thirteen, offering both new and classic Newsboys sounds.
One of the trademarks of the "Go Tour" is the extension to the stage of a runway allowing the band to venture out into the audience.
There were three opening bands. The first was the Canadian band Article One. They are a pop band with lead singer and guitar Nathan Piche, drummer Dave De Smit, bass Mark Laidman and violinist Matt Piche.
The violin added a wonderful touch, pulling the bands modern style into a classic sound. Watching the expressions on Matt's face was one of the best aspects of their performance.
The second opener was the Canadian band Newworldson. They are a soul and gospel band with a blues style that is energetic and fun. The members are lead singer and keyboardist Joel Parisien, drummer Mark Rogers, guitarist Josh Toal and upright bass Rich Moore.
They were one of the best bands I have seen in a long time. They had unique lyrics and an individual style of music. Parisien had a way of getting the crowd excited with his energy that was unmatched by any other opening act. He added different instruments, including a train whistle and constantly moved with the music.
The third opening band was Rush of Fools. They are a Christian pop band. Their members include lead singer Wes Willis, guitarist Kevin Huguley, bass Jacob Chesnut, drummer Jamie Sharpe and keyboardist JD Frazier.
