The "Get It Big" Fashion Show brought new flair and fashion to Goodson Student Union on Monday, Feb. 25.
The annual fashion show is presented by students involved in Da Vine Student Ministry.
Da Vine began in 2004 with a focus on minority students, though all students are welcome to attend meetings and events. The show was coordinated by seniors Nora and Linda Scott.
"By the grace of God [Da Vine] is still going," said senior Richard Marks, who was the announcer for the event.
This was the last event Da Vine hosted in honor of Black History Month.
"The reason why I celebrate black history month is that I want to learn where I've come from," said Marks. "We can create more black history everyday."
The show began with a dance performed by the Frontline Dance Team made up of freshman Natalie Lee, sophomore Jennifer Gillespie, junior Victoria Reed, seniors Janine Greer and Quiana James.
The fashion show featured business wear provided by Maurices, casual wear provided by Maurices and Styles, urban wear provided by Styles, African wear, Bearcat wear provided by the Southwest Baptist University Bookstore, and formal wear provided by DEBS and Men's Warehouse.
The models were freshmen Larry White and Yordanos Kubrom and Denarika Bostwick; sophomores Gillespie, Akosua Offei-Danso, Taylor Fowler, Racheal Ball, Jacklin Montinar and Tyrin Holt; juniors Janine Greer, Jonathan Alvarado, Marcellus Abrams, Robert Barrow, Willie Johnson and Jimmy Sims; senior Chris Dutschmann, and graduate Kristen Blinzler.
During the transitions between clothing styles, Marks read facts about important black people in history.
"I have to say I really enjoyed myself and just want to personally thank the models, behind the scenes staff and all the clothing companies for all their support," said Nora.
