Leslie Hall hosts ladies' event

Leslie Hall staff addressed Matters of the Heart Monday, March 10 after rescheduling due to weather. The second annual event was held in McClelland Dining Facility and was open to all women at SBU and in the Bolivar community.
"We wanted to have an event where ladies could get together and celebrate the heart," said Leslie Hall Resident Director Sara Nuxoll.
McClelland was decorated with candy hearts and red M&M's. The cozy ambience created a casual setting for discussion. Proverbs 4:23 "above all else guard your heart," was the theme verse of the evening.
To begin the evening freshman Amber Dlugosh performed original compositions.
Leslie Hall resident assistants sophomores Ashley Hodges, Clara Madden and Haley McDaniel and juniors Hope Foster, Shannon Kirkpatrick and Rachel Greene shared Bible verses and movie quotes about the heart.
The first guest speaker of the evening was Dr. Linda Wooderson, dean of Lewis E. Schollian College of Education and Behavioral Sciences. She spoke about her passion for living a healthy life style.
Wooderson encouraged the audience to be healthy and active no matter their size and to be happy with themselves. She advised eating only for sustenance and not for pleasure.
The second guest speaker for the evening was Director of University Missions Diana Gallamore. She spoke about spiritual wellness.
She spoke about how preparation for the heart was not just physical but also spiritual. One of her main points was God's judgment of the heart over physical actions. She also shared a story from her own spiritual experience. Her speech was very moving and stirred all the ladies' emotions.
The evening provided a time for ladies to learn not just about how to have a physically healthy heart but also a spiritually healthy heart. Nuxoll and the Leslie Hall RAs accomplished their goal for the evening by celebrating th
