Denton is finishing his fifth year of teaching at Southwest Baptist University and has enjoyed it immensely.
He teaches Christian Doctrine every semester and at least one section of New Testament History. He also teaches upper level theology electives.
"I'm developing a set of five upper level elective classes that will go along with the new Redford major for fall 2008," said Denton.
Denton attained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Southeastern Louisiana University. He later went to New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and received a Master of Divinity. He received his doctorate from Fuller University.
What most students do not know about Denton is that he received his Bachelor of Arts in music and was going to pursue a masters in music until God changed his plans.
"I have a pretty big music background," said Denton. "My instrument was piano, but my studies were in theory and composition. I don't play much anymore, but we always listen to music in the car."
Although Denton might seem somewhat reserved to students, he is a doting father and husband.
"My wife and I have been married sixteen years on April 24," said Denton.
Denton and his wife have a three year old son they adopted from California.
"My son is Joshua. We adopted him in May of 2004. We were contacted out of the blue by a friend from California that we hadn't talked to in a couple of years. She knew that we were interested in adoption and asked if we still were. She knew of a lady who was going to have a baby but couldn't keep him.
