Missing from the usual quartet of 800-meter women for the 'Cats was freshman Kelsi Chowning. Instead of taking her normal spot with Maggart, Roth and Porter near the front of the 800 field, Chowning led the Bearcats in the 1,500-meter run with a third place finish. Despite the unfavorable weather conditions, Chowning's time was good enough to place her fifth in the current MIAA rankings.
Also running well for the women was sophomore Andrea Owensby in the 3,000-meter run. Owensby's strong performance earned her a fifth-place finish in 11 minutes, 12.24 seconds.
Continuing the theme of strong distance performance for the Lady 'Cats was sophomore Chelsea Strahm in her first attempt at the 3,000-meter steeplechase this season. Strahm placed third in the event with a time of 11 minutes, 45.37 seconds. Her time also places her fifth on the MIAA rankings.
