Southwest Baptist University Activity Council will be hosting the annual songwriter showcase on Tuesday, April 29 at 7 p.m. in the Goodson Student Union.
The Union will be transformed into a moody, coffee house atmosphere. Each songwriter that submits a song for approval will be able to perform their song. This event allows students hear good music, hang with their friends and get some tasty coffee.
Last year seven performers came out to play. Alumnae Laura Towner, Karen Marker and senior Brian Maloy judged the event last year. Senior Audra Spain won first place and $75.
This year judges will again be searching for the best piece. First and second place prizes will be awarded to the winners.
All songwriters interested in performing their song in front of the audience need to turn in their lyrics into the SGA office by today in order to be approved in time for the show.
All SBU students need to take a break from studying and head out to this event to hear some great local talent.
