TEAM began on SBU's campus in 1985, and since that time has grown to its current size of eleven students this year. Although this number might not seem like many the number does not speak for itself.
Each member is highly committed to the group. Participants must commit for a year and make the regular two-hour practices held each Tuesday and Thursday.
They also travel with the group on the weekends. TEAM usually has three shows during the fall semester and then travels up to two times a month during the spring semester.
"TEAM has been an amazing experience," said freshman Jessica Foley. "It's difficult at times but also rewarding to see God work through me."
On top of the commitment members must audition, apply, and be interviewed before becoming a part of TEAM.
"We look for a relationship with Christ, personality, flexibility and talent that can be used within the group," said senior and current director Sarah Minott.
"TEAM is a traveling drama ministry which presents the gospel in ways people aren't familiar with," said junior Chris Maples. "Most often we do our ministry during services but we are getting more involved in youth ministries. We did a DNow recently."
Through the weekly rehearsals members learn "The Show." "The Show" is original to TEAM and was written by a member of the group.
"This year and last year I wrote "The Show" with help from Chris Maples and Andy Hanson," said Minott. "'The Show' ends up being our main theme."
Along with "The Show" members learn various skits and interpretations of music that have been found based off the theme.
