Campus Olympics brings competition

Southwest Baptist University students will be able to compete for prizes and dorm points in Campus Olympics at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3 on the Burnidge Memorial Forum.
Lunch will be served on the Forum from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. At 12:30, Dr. C. Pat Taylor, SBU president, will commence the opening ceremony. At 1 p.m., Dr. Linda Wooderson, professor of physical education, will give her testimony about her physical wellness and weight loss.
At 1:30 p.m., the competitions will begin, each competition sponsored by a different dorm. Memorial Hall will host the washer throw competition, which will require two people from each dorm competing for the prize of a washer set for the dorm and outdoor recreation items. Maupin Hall will host frisbee toss, which requires one person from each dorm competing for a frisbee and iPod. Miniature golf will be hosted by Meyer Hall and requires one golfer representing each dorm who will be competing for free balls and a DeVini Shoes gift card. The Woody-Gott Hall bobbing contest begins at 2 p.m., and one person from each dorm will compete for two restaurant gift cards. Leslie Hall will host the silly relays, which requires six participants from each dorm competing for Sonic coupons and a Best Buy gift card. Landen Hall will host the Punt, Pass and Kick; baseball throw and Homerun Derby which will require two participants from each dorm who will compete for food coupons. From 2:30 to 3 p.m. Beasley Hall will host dodgeball in which 10 participants from each dorm will battle it out for athletic gear for their dorm. Plaster Hall will give a restaurant gift card and gift certificate to DeVini Shoes to the team who wins the three-legged Race at 2:30 p.m. The apartments will host a tennis challenge in which one competitor from each dorm will compete for tennis gear and a Wal-Mart gift card.
For each first place win, dorms will receive 15 points. For second place, dorms will receive 10 points, and for third place, dorms will receive five points. The dorm with the most points overall will receive a dorm plaque. A $300 flat screen TV will also be raffled away at the end of Campus Olympics to a student who stays for the entire day.
