Issue date: 4/25/08 Section: News
Southwest Baptist University students will have an opportunity to meet each other in a unique way at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6 in the Harriett K. Hutchens Library, .
The Meyer Residence Hall and University Libraries are teaming up to host a speed dating event.
During the event, each male participant will get the opportunity to talk to each female participant. The event will be run similar to other speed dating events.
At the end of the evening, each participant will turn in a scorecard.
If a person circles "Yes, share my email" for a person on their scorecard, the first name of that person and email address will be sent to the person listed on the scorecard.
The event is being sponsored to raise awareness for Jason Witten's S.C.O.R.E. Foundation.
The foundation stands for "Support. Community. Overcome. Rebuild. Educate" and benefits and supports families in crisis with the goal of helping those families overcome hardship and rebuild their lives.
This event is being run to raise awareness of domestic violence and what it can do to families. An information packet will be handed out at the door, and there will be a book display.
A raffle will also be held that evening to raise money for the foundation.
Tickets will be $1 apiece, and "date packages" will be raffled off. Donations will also be accepted at the door.
Anyone needing information on the event or wanting to contribute to the fund should contact Chris Martin, Meyer Hall resident director, at ccmartin@sbuniv.edu or Andrea Miller, University librarian, at amiller@sbuniv.edu.
