Junior Bobby McMillin hit a three-run home run to cap SBU's eight-run ninth inning in the second half of their double-header Saturday. McMillin also picked up a win and a save on the mound Saturday.

The weekend did not start out well for the Southwest Baptist baseball team as they lost both games of their double-header with Pittsburg State on Friday, 8-3 and 10-9.
In the first game, Head Coach Sam Berg sent sophomore Eric Wallace to the mound. Wallace was not dominant, but he kept the Bearcats in the game until the fifth inning. With SBU down 3-0 entering the home half of the fifth, one of the Bearcats' biggest problems reared its ugly head again. SBU gave up five runs, three of which were unearned, in the fifth inning thanks in part to two errors. After giving up the big inning, SBU never pulled close to the Gorillas and lost 8-3.
The second half of the double-header saw a much closer game with the 'Cats jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first with six singles. The 4-0 lead was somewhat short-lived, however, as the Gorillas responded with a big inning of their own in the third as senior shortstop Brett Hothan hammered a grand slam to give Pitt State a 5-4 lead.
SBU responded with a pair of runs in the fourth but was countered when Pitt State put up three more of their own in the fourth.
The Bearcats made things interesting in the ninth as they trailed by three. Sophomore Justin Barnhart walked to start the inning, and he was followed by senior Brad Mountjoy who tripled to right center to score Barnhart. Next up for SBU was senior Chris Martinez who doubled in Mountjoy to make the score 10-9 with Martinez at second with nobody out. Junior Bobby McMillin then sacrificed Martinez over to third with one out. However, the Bearcats were not able to capitalize on this golden opportunity as they could not get Martinez home from third and lost 10-9.
Saturday brought better times for the Bearcats as they used a solid start from junior Ray Kelly and a balanced offensive attack (six different 'Cats recorded an RBI) to win the first game on Saturday, 6-3.
After giving up three runs through the first three innings, Kelly settled in and threw three scoreless innings. Earning the save for the Bearcats was McMillin who tossed a scoreless seventh.
