Banquet, Chapel service recognize honors students

Southwest Baptist University students were recognized for their academic accomplishments at the Academic Honors Banquet Tuesday, April 29 in McClelland Dining Hall.
After dinner, catered by Fresh Ideas, Dr. C. Pat Taylor, president of SBU, congratulated the students and graduating seniors on their hard work.
"God has blessed you with intelligence, good work ethic and opportunity, and you have a responsibility to give back to the kingdom," said Taylor.
The College of Business and Computer Science started the presentation of awards. The Outstanding Accounting Graduate awards went to seniors Ashley Herod, Chelsey Janzen and Chelsea Kenney.
Outstanding Computer Science Graduate was senior Nathan Sisk, and senior Rick Barnhouse was named Outstanding Computer Information Science Graduate.
Barnhouse was also deemed the Outstanding College of Business and Computer Science Graduate.
Barnhouse and junior Shannon Kirkpatrick received the Psalm 15 Award because they exhibit the characteristics outlined in Psalm 15.
The presentation of the Courts Redford College of Theology and Ministry followed. Outstanding Christian Ministry Scholar went to senior Jacqueline Guilkey. Senior Andrew Walker was named Outstanding Theology Scholar.
Senior Stephanie Smith received the Baker Book Award. Sophomore Micah Titterington received the Polly Hosler Memorial Scholarship for Greek Students. Seniors Jennifer Jaggard and Brittaney Whittenburg won the Golden Gate Leadership Award.
In the Lewis E. Schollian College of Education and Social Sciences, senior Jennifer Fox received the award for Outstanding Elementary Education Major.
Senior Bethany Kellogg was named Outstanding Middle School Education Major, and senior Jared Lotz was recognized as the Outstanding Secondary Education Major.
The Reverend C.A. Butler Sociology Award went to senior Amanda Ward. Juniors Caitlin Gasaway and Lisa Warren received the Rose E. Ray Scholarship. Junior Collin Christensen won the Joe B. Shelton Behavioral Sciences Award, and junior Adrianne Jahnke received the Sara McGaha Memorial Scholarship.
