With the new Student Government Association cabinet members selected for next semester, Southwest Baptist University's SGA financial committee approved Student Activity fee allocations for 33 SBU clubs and organizations.
The committee held budget hearings in mid-April for those clubs and organizations requesting first-time allocations or budget increases for the next school year.
Each SBU student pays a $104 Student Activity Fee per year, averaging $52 per semester.
Budget allocations are based on a projected Student Activity fee budget for the fall 2008 and spring 2009 semesters, which is based on projected enrollment.
The total projected Student Activity budget for 2008-2009 is $135,240.00, an 8.89% increase from the 2007-2008 budget of $124,200.00.
Among the larger clubs and organizations receiving funds are Christian Service Organization (CSO), $1,425.00; Mozarkian, $4,500.00; Omnibus, $33,260.00; Paintballers of SBU, $2,000.00; SGA, $54,270.00; Student Publications, $5,400.00, and Theater Department, $10,000.00.
Other clubs and organizations receiving funds include ACM, Behavioral Sciences Club, Chi Sigma Theta, Christian Knights, Chess and SGC, College Republicans, DaVine, Residence Life, Theta Alpha Kappa and University Missions.
