Nipper ties for second place

Southwest Baptist sophomore Brad Nipper tied for second place in the Central Super Regional.
Nipper shot a 219 (74, 73, 72) which put him at +3 for the tournament. Teammate sophomore Justin Sellin shot 10 over to score 226 (74, 76, 76), which put him tied for 10th place overall.
SBU, seeded #8 in the region going in, finished #5 as a team with a +55 score of 919 (309, 304, 306).
The No. 14 ranked Washburn Ichabod golf team recorded a 13-stroke victory at the NCAA Division II Men's Central Regional Tournament at Red Hawk Run Golf Course Wednesday, May 7.
The win is the second in as many seasons and fifth in the last six seasons for the Ichabods.
Washburn will now travel to Houston, Texas, for the 46th Annual Men's NCAA Division II Championships, which will be played May 14-17 at Memorial Park Golf Course as part of the NCAA Division II Spring Sports Festival.
The Ichabod team score of 884 was not only the best in the Central Region, but it also topped the schools from the Great Lakes Region who were playing on the same course. The winner of the Great Lakes Region was Indianapolis with a team score of 885.
Washburn completed their third round with an 11-over 299 to finish 13 shots better than Central Missouri, which finished with a three-round total of 897. Joining Washburn and Indianapolis, Ind., the Great Lakes Regional champion, at the national tournament will be Grand Valley State, who had the next lowest team score out of both regionals.
Missouri Western senior Aaron Lisenbee won the Central Regional after shooting an even-par 216 for the three rounds. He was edged for the lone medalist berth in the Super Regional by Joe Juszczyk of Wayne (Mich.) State, who advanced by shooting a three-day total of 213 (68-68-77), three-under par for the tournament.
Lisenbee followed up his course-record 65 with a 75 to finish three shots ahead of Nipper and Central Missouri sophomore Justin Yoder. Nipper shot an even-par 72 to draw even with Yoder, who like Lisenbee carded a 75.
UCM was second in the team standings at 897, followed by Western at 907. Missouri Southern was fourth with a 917, two ahead of SBU in fifth at 919. Fort Hays State finished eighth at 944.
Senior John Robbins led four WU golfers in the top 10 with his fourth-place total of 220 as he also finished with a 72 on Wednesday. Junior Matt Ewald and sophomore Matt Salome were tied for sixth at 223 while senior Ryan Deutsch carded a final-round 74 to finish eighth with a 224.
UCM junior Stefan Ballage shot a 72 to place ninth for the meet with a 225 while freshman teammate Matt Miller and Sellin were among three tied for 10th with tournament totals of 226.
